How to use Tkinter to create a daemon process.
Some applications like monitoring a serial port are best done by using a daemon process for monitoring and having it generate an event whenever there are changes on the port. This is easily done by instantiating a tkinter Toplevel window which then initiates the daemon process using "after" and then uses "withdraw" to go dormant.
