fbsplash is a userspace implementation of a splash screen for Linux systems. It provides a graphical environment during system boot using the Linux framebuffer layer. It follows a design policy of being simple, lightweight and fast.

Startup Helper lets users choose which programs are launched when the OS boots up. It also allows for waiting periods between launching programs, to prevent programs slowing each other down. This project is made in Java, so it should be multiplatform.
