ParTools allows the interactive analysis of a C program execution profile and data dependencies to facilitate the discovery and selection of suitable parallelization candidates in a manual parallelization process. The flow does not assume any specific parallelization technique, thus it can be broadly applied. The original (serial) C source is automatically annotated to trace the execution profile and data dependencies at run-time. The annotated program is then executed using a significant (but small) data set selected by the developer. An extraordinary food ordering app providing a one-stop-shop solution for clients to order their favorite meals from exceptional chefs near them. Being built as part of course SEG2105 at the University of Ottawa by SEG2105 Group 4. Multiple entities or objects of data representation (User, Client, Chef, Meal, etc.) have to be accessable and modifiable from different parts of the application, and changes in data should be represented on the user interface efficiently. By taking inspiration from the Chain-of-responsibility design pattern, Modal-View-Controller design pattern and the Dispatcher-Action-Handler pattern, we resorted to implementing a code structure and data handling pattern that helps achieve loose coupling, lesser dependency on external frameworks (like Firebase) and more modularization. Every app instance would have UI components (activities), which will only contain code needed for user interface. UI components, use the App instance, to make calls. -

Performance and Productivity at Scale
X10 is a class-based, strongly-typed, garbage-collected, object-oriented language. To support concurrency and distribution, X10 uses the Asynchronous Partitioned Global Address Space programming model (APGAS). This model introduces two key concepts -- places and asynchronous tasks -- and a few mechanisms for coordination. With these, APGAS can express both regular and irregular parallelism, message-passing-style and active-message-style computations, fork-join and bulk-synchronous parallelism. Both its modern, type-safe sequential core and simple programming model for concurrency and distribution contribute to making X10 a high-productivity language in the HPC and Big Data spaces. User productivity is further enhanced by providing tools such as an Eclipse-based IDE (X10DT). Implementations of X10 are available for a wide variety of hardware and software platforms ranging from laptops, to commodity clusters, to supercomputers. -
