    PySyft

    PySyft

Data science on data without acquiring a copy

Most software libraries let you compute over the information you own and see inside of machines you control. However, this means that you cannot compute on information without first obtaining (at least partial) ownership of that information. It also means that you cannot compute using machines without first obtaining control over those machines. This is very limiting to human collaboration and systematically drives the centralization of data, because you cannot work with a bunch of data without first putting it all in one (central) place. The Syft ecosystem seeks to change this system, allowing you to write software which can compute over information you do not own on machines you do not have (total) control over. This not only includes servers in the cloud, but also personal desktops, laptops, mobile phones, websites, and edge devices. Wherever your data wants to live in your ownership, the Syft ecosystem exists to help keep it there while allowing it to be used privately.

    SageMaker Training Toolkit

    SageMaker Training Toolkit

Train machine learning models within Docker containers

Train machine learning models within a Docker container using Amazon SageMaker. Amazon SageMaker is a fully managed service for data science and machine learning (ML) workflows. You can use Amazon SageMaker to simplify the process of building, training, and deploying ML models. To train a model, you can include your training script and dependencies in a Docker container that runs your training code. A container provides an effectively isolated environment, ensuring a consistent runtime and reliable training process. The SageMaker Training Toolkit can be easily added to any Docker container, making it compatible with SageMaker for training models. If you use a prebuilt SageMaker Docker image for training, this library may already be included. Write a training script (eg. train.py). Define a container with a Dockerfile that includes the training script and any dependencies.

    UMAP

    UMAP

    Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection

Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection (UMAP) is a dimension reduction technique that can be used for visualization similarly to t-SNE, but also for general non-linear dimension reduction. It is possible to model the manifold with a fuzzy topological structure. The embedding is found by searching for a low-dimensional projection of the data that has the closest possible equivalent fuzzy topological structure. First of all UMAP is fast. It can handle large datasets and high dimensional data without too much difficulty, scaling beyond what most t-SNE packages can manage. This includes very high dimensional sparse datasets. UMAP has successfully been used directly on data with over a million dimensions. Second, UMAP scales well in the embedding dimension—it isn't just for visualization. You can use UMAP as a general-purpose dimension reduction technique as a preliminary step to other machine learning tasks.

    mlforecast

    mlforecast

Scalable machine learning for time series forecasting

mlforecast is a time-series forecasting framework built around machine-learning models, designed to make forecasting both efficient and scalable. It lets you apply any regressor that follows the typical scikit-learn API, for example, gradient-boosted trees or linear models, to time-series data by automating much of the messy feature engineering and data preparation. Instead of writing custom code to build lagged features, rolling statistics, and date-based predictors, mlforecast generates those automatically based on a simple configuration. It supports multi-series forecasting, meaning you can train one model that forecasts many time series at once (common in retail, demand forecasting, etc.), rather than one model per series. The library is built to scale: behind the scenes, it can leverage distributed computing frameworks (Spark, Dask, Ray) when datasets or the number of series grow large.

    snorkel

    snorkel

A system for quickly generating training data with weak supervision

The Snorkel team is now focusing their efforts on Snorkel Flow, an end-to-end AI application development platform based on the core ideas behind Snorkel. The Snorkel project started at Stanford in 2016 with a simple technical bet: that it would increasingly be the training data, not the models, algorithms, or infrastructure, that decided whether a machine learning project succeeded or failed. Given this premise, we set out to explore the radical idea that you could bring mathematical and systems structure to the messy and often entirely manual process of training data creation and management, starting by empowering users to programmatically label, build, and manage training data. Snorkel Flow, an end-to-end machine learning platform for developing and deploying AI applications. Snorkel Flow incorporates many of the concepts of the Snorkel project with a range of newer techniques around weak supervision modeling, data augmentation, multi-task learning, data slicing and structuring.

    Apache Hamilton

    Apache Hamilton

Helps data scientists define testable self-documenting dataflows

Apache Hamilton is an open-source Python framework designed to simplify the creation and management of dataflows used in analytics, machine learning pipelines, and data engineering workflows. The framework enables developers to define data transformations as simple Python functions, where each function represents a node in a dataflow graph and its parameters define dependencies on other nodes. Hamilton automatically analyzes these functions and constructs a directed acyclic graph representing the pipeline, allowing the system to execute transformations in the correct order. This approach encourages modular, testable, and maintainable data pipelines because each transformation is isolated and easily unit tested. The framework also automatically tracks lineage and metadata about how data is produced, which improves debugging, reproducibility, and transparency in data workflows.

    Causal ML

    Causal ML

Uplift modeling and causal inference with machine learning algorithms

Causal ML is a Python package that provides a suite of uplift modeling and causal inference methods using machine learning algorithms based on recent research [1]. It provides a standard interface that allows users to estimate the Conditional Average Treatment Effect (CATE) or Individual Treatment Effect (ITE) from experimental or observational data. Essentially, it estimates the causal impact of intervention T on outcome Y for users with observed features X, without strong assumptions on the model form. An important lever to increase ROI in an advertising campaign is to target the ad to the set of customers who will have a favorable response in a given KPI such as engagement or sales. CATE identifies these customers by estimating the effect of the KPI from ad exposure at the individual level from A/B experiments or historical observational data.

    PML

    PML

The easiest way to use deep metric learning in your application

This library contains 9 modules, each of which can be used independently within your existing codebase, or combined together for a complete train/test workflow. To compute the loss in your training loop, pass in the embeddings computed by your model, and the corresponding labels. The embeddings should have size (N, embedding_size), and the labels should have size (N), where N is the batch size. The TripletMarginLoss computes all possible triplets within the batch, based on the labels you pass into it. Anchor-positive pairs are formed by embeddings that share the same label, and anchor-negative pairs are formed by embeddings that have different labels. Loss functions can be customized using distances, reducers, and regularizers. In the diagram below, a miner finds the indices of hard pairs within a batch. These are used to index into the distance matrix, computed by the distance object. For this diagram, the loss function is pair-based, so it computes a loss per pair.

    PromptSource

    PromptSource

Toolkit for creating, sharing and using natural language prompts

PromptSource is a toolkit for creating, sharing and using natural language prompts. Recent work has shown that large language models exhibit the ability to perform reasonable zero-shot generalization to new tasks. For instance, GPT-3 demonstrated that large language models have strong zero- and few-shot abilities. FLAN and T0 then demonstrated that pre-trained language models fine-tuned in a massively multitask fashion yield even stronger zero-shot performance. A common denominator in these works is the use of prompts which has gained interest among NLP researchers and engineers. This emphasizes the need for new tools to create, share and use natural language prompts. Prompts are functions that map an example from a dataset to a natural language input and target output. PromptSource contains a growing collection of prompts (which we call P3: Public Pool of Prompts). As of January 20, 2022, there are ~2'000 English prompts for 170+ English datasets in P3.
