XPL is a dialect of PL/1 documented in the book "A Compiler Generator" by McKeeman, Horning and Wortman, published by Prentice-Hall, 1970, ISBN 13-155077-2. In 1996 David E. Bodenstab ported the compiler to the Intel 486 running on FreeBSD Unix. In 2020 Daniel E. Weaver ported the compiler to Linux. As of November 2020 the Linux port runs on both Linux and the Apple MAC. Student Programming Language (SPL) a subset of PL/I
Student Programming Language (SPL) compiles and executes programs written in a subset of PL/I. SPL was created by David B. Wortman in 1969 at Stanford University as a teaching tool for beginning programmers. In 1970 the compiler was modified by Robin A. Vowels at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology to be more compatible with the PL/I language. The compiler is written in XPL using an MSP parser. XPL compiler for the PDP-10
This is an XPL compiler for the PDP-10 written by Richard L. Brisbey II and R. H. Hey in the mid 70's. This compiler was released into the public domain through DECUS. This source repository includes all the source and text files from the original DECUS release tape plus a port of the compiler that will run on more modern computers. The compiler port requires 64-bit hardware which is used to emulate the 36-bit data word of the PDP-10. -
