The purpose of this project is to develop a software application which can be used for a complete environmental assessment of bioprocesses. The application contains a large database of substances and graphical interfaces which can be used to automate the process. In future versions we intend to add new functionality by integrating this application with Matlab and SuperPro Designer simulator. In this way it can be used in more complex tasks like optimization of bioprocesses. -

Unfortunately the Catalogue of Life Project, catalogueoflife.org, changed its database format more recently, so this converter only works on older versions of the data. In the last working version of the database, making the assumption that each taxonomic name, no matter what level, refers to an original real species & starting them all as female, over 2 million "species/persons" were generated.

An Excel workbook suitable for preliminary design and analysis
LWCPV.3.zip includes: 1. A macro enabled Excel workbook (LWCPV.xlsm) for preliminary design and analysis of long cylindrical, layered-wall pressure vessels (PVs) subjected to external hydrostatic pressure. The following four types of layered-wall construction are addressed: a. Two-layer isotropic. b. Three-layer isotropic sandwich-wall; and c. Three-layer sandwich-wall with orthotropic outer layers and isotropic core. d. Three-layer sandwich-wall with isotropic outer layers and orthotropic core. Stress-strain solutions for all constructions are based on thick-wall three-dimensional elastic theory. Elastic Monocoque Instability pressure is calculated. Instructions on using each worksheet are given therein. 2. Technical notes outlining the underlying theory and discussing the above four types of PVs. -

A technical note deriving the governing equations for a planar elastic subjected to general end loading (i.e., combined bending moment, angled direct load and torsional moment). This note is heart of this project. 2. Macro enabled Excel spreadsheet examples that illustrate use of the above result. These examples range in sophistication from large displacement leaf springs to one requiring simultaneous solution of two elastica problems. They are described in the above note. 3. SQUID2 software processes SHRIMP ion microprobe data. It derives ages for the U-Th-Pb system, radiogenic Pb isotope ratios and raw isotope ratios. It is jointly developed by Dr Ken Ludwig, Geoscience Australia and the SQUID2 Development Group. SQUID2 is a Microsoft Excel add-In that processes PD files produced by SHRIMP ion microprobes into a variety of parameters, including raw isotope ratios, radiogenic Pb isotope ratios, ages for the U-Th-Pb system, and, via user-specified algorithms, into an extremely wide range of other possible parameters. Improvement and enhancement of the capabilities of SQUID2 are ongoing. DEPENDENCIES: In order to use SQUID2, you must first load Isoplot3 because SQUID2 depends on some of the functionality provided by Isoplot3. Linked Excel workbooks for preliminary study of the title systems
The file “Ship, Tow-Tether and Moonpool Models.zip” is a collection of linked macro-enabled Excel workbooks suitable for conceptual to preliminary design of the title systems. The file “Block Diagram.pdf” shows linkages and summarizes each workbooks’ major features. FD and TD at the end of a file name denotes frequency domain and time domain solutions, respectively. Except for the moonpool TD model, which is a solution to the nonlinear equations of motion for the moonpool piston mode, TD solutions are obtained by superposing FD solutions in uniform random phase. Toolbars on the plot tabs can be activated to expose plot options. Model input parameters are defined in comments to the input cells of each workbook. (Use the TAB key to move between input cell.) Dropdown menus on the first worksheet of each linked workbooks facilitate moving between open workbooks. Supporting documentation is included. -

Excel workbooks suitable for preliminary design and analysis
SCPV is a family of three macro enabled Excel workbooks for analysis of long cylindrical pressure vessels with flat endcaps subjected to external hydrostatic pressure. CPVanalysis.xlsm does stress and stability analyses. It plots stresses, deflections and the equilibrium path for imperfect circular cylinders showing the onset of yielding and limit points in relation to elastic and inelastic bifurcation buckling pressures. Two types of initial geometric imperfections, outer diameter out-of-roundness and outer-to-inner diameter eccentricity with a phase angle between them, can be considered. CPVparametric.xlsm, does parametric analyses. It plots performance parameters against depth or pressure for up to five different combinations of materials and shell geometries including initial imperfections. CPVcreep.xlsm does analysis of creep instability in vessels with initial mode-2 out-of-roundness imperfections. Supporting documentation is included. -

Steam Trap Maintenance Management System
Steam traps separate condensed steam (condensate) from steam; steam is corrosive and they ultimately leak. Maintenance is an issue because the losses are generally hidden and it costs at least $20 to test a trap. Higher pressures lead to higher losses; a single leaking trap can lose $100 or $10,000 of steam each year, some systems have 10,000 traps. What does Trapo do? - Stores: size, manufacturer, location, parts, replacement history, etc. - Orders traps and asbestos abatement near traps; fully supports a competitive-bid environment. - Calculates: Optimum test intervals, test samples, costs of various strategies (the Steam$$ module and separate program), and anything else we found useful. - Pays attention to simple facts: A trap doesn't leak steam if none is fed to it due to a thermostat, summer, etc. A trap usually doesn't fail all at once, it deteriorates gradually and different test methods detect the leak at different levels. - Not written to sell traps or trap testing.
