mpv_thumbnail_script.lua is a script/replacement OSC for mpv to display preview thumbnails when hovering over the seek bar, without any external dependencies1, cross-platform-ly2. The script will also do multiple passes over the video, generating thumbnails with increasing frequency until the target is reached.
