It's used by many internal projects at Google, as well as a number of notable projects such as The Chromium projects, the OpenCV computer vision library, and the LLVM compiler. doctest is a new C++ testing framework but is by far the fastest both in compile times (by orders of magnitude) and runtime compared to other feature-rich alternatives. It brings the ability of compiled languages such as D / Rust / Nim to have tests written directly in the production code thanks to a fast, transparent and flexible test runner with a clean interface. The framework is and will stay free but needs your support to sustain its development. There are lots of new features and maintenance to do. There are many C++ testing frameworks - Catch, Boost.Test, UnitTest++, cpputest, googletest and others. The key differences between it and other testing frameworks are that it is light and unintrusive. Ultra light on compile times both in terms of including the header and writing thousands of asserts. Doesn't produce any warnings even on the most aggressive warning levels for MSVC/GCC/Clang. -

Goss is a YAML-based serverspec alternative tool for validating a server’s configuration. It eases the process of writing tests by allowing the user to generate tests from the current system state. Once the test suite is written they can be executed, waited-on, or served as a health endpoint. An initial set of tests can be derived from the system state by using the add or auto add commands. A Json draft 7 schema available in docs/goss-json-schema.yaml makes it easier to edit simple goss.yaml files in IDEs, providing usual coding assistance such as inline documentation, completion and static analysis. -

Scriptable database and system performance benchmark
sysbench is a scriptable multi-threaded benchmark tool based on LuaJIT. It is most frequently used for database benchmarks, but can also be used to create arbitrarily complex workloads that do not involve a database server. extensive statistics about rate and latency is available, including latency percentiles and histograms. Low overhead even with thousands of concurrent threads. sysbench is capable of generating and tracking hundreds of millions of events per second. New benchmarks can be easily created by implementing pre-defined hooks in user-provided Lua scripts. Can be used as a general-purpose Lua interpreter as well, simply replace #!/usr/bin/lua with #!/usr/bin/sysbench in your script. Execute events for this many seconds with statistics disabled before the actual benchmark run with statistics enabled. This is useful when you want to exclude the initial period of a benchmark run from statistics. -

Fortio (Φορτίο) started as, and is, Istio’s load testing tool and later (2018) graduated to be its own open-source project. Fortio runs at a specified query per second (qps) and records an histogram of execution time and calculates percentiles (e.g. p99 ie the response time such as 99% of the requests take less than that number (in seconds, SI unit)). It can run for a set duration, for a fixed number of calls, or until interrupted (at a constant target QPS, or max speed/load per connection/thread). Fortio is a fast, small (4Mb docker image, minimal dependencies), reusable, embeddable go library as well as a command line tool and server process, the server includes a simple web UI and REST API to trigger run and see graphical representation of the results (both a single latency graph and a multiple results comparative min, max, avg, qps and percentiles graphs).
