This kangaroo-themed program allows the user to create their own music and sound effects, effectively from scratch. There are two variants of the program: Kangas Sound Editor which requires MySQL for its database, and Kangas Sound Editor QI which does not (it uses an internal database - HSQLDB - instead). Kangas Sound Editor (QI) uses a system of boxes or cells, which are placed by the user onto a timeline using drag-and-drop, and which represent entities such as chords, repetition, and individual sounds or notes. The program's database allows the user to create and store harmonics, used for constructing melodic instruments, and anti-harmonics, which are used for constructing percussion instruments. Users can collaborate with and build on the work of others via an XML import/export facility.

KurzFiler is a software for editing the files of the Kurzweil sampler series. It is mainly intended for users of these great instruments.

This Program plays any looping metronome file while it allows you to record. It will then take the recorded session and cut a loop to the same time length by synchronizing the loop points. Optionally it can mix the two files as well, (Java Required)

Mantra Machine is an emulation of the Buddha Machine hardware, a small box that endlessly plays ambient loops. In this release you will find the original loops of the hardware plus an exclusive set of sounds. Two versions: Java Edition and Linux Qt.

This project was started as a Masters project back in 2006. I completed the project as part of my dissertation, and produced software to render Maya script (MEL) to animate a piano model I'd also created. From this I produced a number of videos, which I uploaded periodically to YouTube. Following numerous request I attempted to create a standalone application to playback MIDI performances without the need for a 3rd party 3d modelling/rendering application such as Maya. Given my original background in Java, and it's existing support for MIDI files, I proceeded to attempt to create this using Java 3D. However, (and this sounds like an excuse, which it probably is), life got in the way and I never completed the project to a commercial standard for reproduction. As such, I'm offering the source here in good will to other developers/musicians who might be able to take what I've achieved and carry it forward to a useful learning tool.

BeatBox is a Java application in which users use a 16x16 grid of checkboxes to create a beat with various percussion instruments. Beats can be saved and loaded easily. The entire application is as intuitive and user-friendly as possible.

Give the chord progression and a style and JChordBox generates a song. JChordBox is a library tool that can generate backing tracks from a chord progression and a music style. A music Style is describe using an XML and a MIDI file. You can generate an XML Style file from a MIDI file by adding markers to delimit grooves. An XML Song file describes a chord progression and sets the music style to use. JChordBox comes with several command line tools (GenerateSong, CreateStyleFromMidiFile, SongPlayer …). NEW:The application center is called SongPlayer and is a text based user interface that can play JChordBox song. SongPlayer is a MIDI Player that can loop a song, mute or soloing tracks and displays transport informations. SongPlayer is now the default jar application. This is not another mp3player/organiser. This program is, however an attempt to emulate a proper in the bar style jukebox.

An Arduino board, Spectra Symbol linear potentiometer, and USB/MIDI adapter are used to create a MIDI controller with continuous pitch (as opposed to discrete notes as played on a piano). The resulting instrument works with Windows, Mac OS, and Linux. It has been tested successfully with Acoustica Mixcraft and GarageBand. Additional features have been added such as buttons to temporarily switch octaves, and a knob which adjusts how quickly the pitch is tuned.
