Notepads

I have been waiting long enough for a modern Windows 10 notepad app to come before I decided to create one myself. Don’t get me wrong, Notepad++, VS Code, and Sublime are great text editors. I have used them all and I will continue to use them in the future. However, they are either too heavy or look less appealing. There are times that I just wanted to use Windows Notepad for things like writing notes or editing config files. So I decided to create a win32 notepad replacement here and try to give it a modern look and feel. Most importantly, it has to be blazingly fast and appeal to everyone. -

jq
Lightweight and flexible command-line JSON processor
jq is like sed for JSON data - you can use it to slice, filter, map and transform structured data with the same ease that sed, awk, grep and friends let you play with text. jq is written in portable C, and it has zero runtime dependencies. You can download a single binary, scp it to a far away machine of the same type, and expect it to work. jq can mangle the data format that you have into the one that you want with very little effort, and the program to do so is often shorter and simpler than you'd expect. Data in jq is represented as streams of JSON values - every jq expression runs for each value in its input stream, and can produce any number of values to its output stream. jq filters run on a stream of JSON data. The input to jq is parsed as a sequence of whitespace-separated JSON values which are passed through the provided filter one at a time. The output(s) of the filter are written to standard out, again as a sequence of whitespace-separated JSON data. -

SOPS
Simple and flexible tool for managing secrets
sops is an editor of encrypted files that supports YAML, JSON, ENV, INI and BINARY formats and encrypts with AWS KMS, GCP KMS, Azure Key Vault, age, and PGP. For the adventurous, unstable features are available in the develop branch, which you can install from source. To use sops as a library, take a look at the decrypt package. We rewrote Sops in Go to solve a number of deployment issues, but the Python branch still exists under python-sops. We will keep maintaining it for a while, and you can still pip install sops, but we strongly recommend you use the Go version instead. If you're using AWS KMS, create one or multiple master keys in the IAM console and export them, comma separated, in the SOPS_KMS_ARN env variable. It is recommended to use at least two master keys in different regions. If you want to use PGP, export the fingerprints of the public keys, comma separated, in the SOPS_PGP_FP env variable. -

HarfBuzz is an open source text-shaping engine with a C API that turns fonts and strings of character codes into a form that is correctly arranged for the corresponding language and writing system. This is essentially the process of text shaping: translating a string of character codes into a properly arranged sequence of glyphs that can be rendered onto a screen or into final output form for inclusion in a document. This shaping depends on a number of factors: the input string, the active font, the script (or writing system) of the string, and the string's language. Various font formats have their own set of standard text-shaping rules. With Harfbuzz, you can properly shape all the major writing systems. HarfBuzz is cross-platform and supports all major software platforms and font formats. -

A set of editor states represent the current and pending states of the editor at any given time. Lexical is designed for everyone. It follows best practices established in WCAG and is compatible with screen readers and other assistive technologies. Lexical is minimal. It doesn't directly concern itself with UI components, toolbars or rich-text features and markdown. The logic for these features can be included via a plugin interface. It's super easy to get started with Lexical in any environment. Lexical is framework agnostic, but provides a set of bindings for React to help you get off the ground even quicker. After the initial setup, delightfully ergonomic APIs make building custom functionality straightforward and downright fun! -

Tesseract.js is a pure Javascript port of the popular Tesseract OCR engine. Tesseract.js' library supports more than 100 languages, automatic text orientation and script detection, a simple interface for reading paragraph, word, and character bounding boxes. Tesseract.js can run either in a browser and on a server with NodeJS. Tesseract.js is a javascript library that gets words in almost any spoken language out of images. The main Tesseract.js functions (ex. recognize, detect) take an image parameter, which should be something that is like an image. What's considered "image-like" differs depending on whether it is being run from the browser or through NodeJS. -

Micro's number one feature is being easy to install (it's just a static binary with no dependencies) and easy to use. Use a simple json format to configure your options and rebind keys to your liking. If you need more power, you can use Lua to configure the editor further. Micro supports over 75 languages and has 7 default colorschemes to choose from. Micro supports 16, 256, and truecolor themes. Syntax files and colorschemes are also very simple to make. Micro has support for Sublime-style multiple cursors, giving you lots of editing power directly in your terminal. Micro supports a full-blown plugin system. Plugins are written in Lua and there is a plugin manager to automatically download and install your plugins for you. Micro's keybindings are what you would expect from a simple-to-use editor. You can also rebind any of the bindings without problem in the bindings.json file. Micro has full support for the mouse. -
