Files are stored in subversion and checked out to a local file system. Comparison of what has changed checks last commit time in svn vs last update time on Tableau Server. The Stakker project aims to develop Linux drivers and GUI CD management applications with a SQL backend for CD/DVD library/archiving boxes. The Dutch word "Stakker" means "poor blighter" (says babelfish) :-). Imation Stakka works, CD-300 not yet.
