The patch changes two things:

1. Renames the block_cache where its name collides with its class definition.

2. Fixes the "explicit template specialization cannot have a storage class" error in the ppc-dyngen-ops.cpp file.

Port to X86_64 on OS X.

I have done some work in trying to get Basilisk II to run in 64-bit mode on Mac OS X and I have noticed some calls are to functions not available in 64-bit mode.

Attached is a patch that uses SetSystemUIMode instead of ShowMenuBar and HideMenuBar, the latter two not being available for 64-bit apps.

Also, the Clipboard functions are deprecated and not available for 64-bit apps.

OpenGL Passthrough (SheepShaver)

I would really like to see OpenGL passthrough for SheepShaver implemented. It would be very likely that this would include writing a driver on the OS 8/9 side.

OS X Enhancements for SheepShaver

SheepShaver Challenge
In light of Apple's recent discontinuation of Classic
for Intel Macs, I have decided to write a challenge
for all programmers who are either working on, or
planning to work on, SheepShaver. The main reason
why I would ask for this is because there are still a
lot of games that are still Classic only.

The following requests are highly reccomended to make
SheepShaver work better:
+Make it so that it doesn't crash when you play a
Quicktime movie.
+Support for OpenGL.
+Support for USB(HID) joysticks.
+Better support for serial ports.
+A preference program that can be launched from 10.2
that doesn't use third-party frameworks.
+Better CD-ROM support.
+Binary distribution that is Intel- and PowerPC-
native (Universal Binary).
+Better support of external Mac file systems.
+Support for Mac disk images (.img, maybe .dmg).

The following are minor things that may help with the
operation of Sheepshaver, but aren't required.
+Make it so that there is a way to change between
full-screen and windowed mode via a command in a menu
add-on inside the guest (OS 7-9) OS.
+make it so that you can print directly to Mac OS X
via a chooser extention in OS 8.
+Make it so that Quicktime movies are video
accelerated.
+Make it so that Networking works on OS X.
+Make it so that MIDI is sent to Mac OS X's Core
Audio.
+Make it so that Audio is sent to Mac OS X's Carbon
Sound Manager instead of SDL.
+Make it so that SheepShaver can access all of the
drives on Mac OS X.
+Make SheepShaver store preferences in a plist file
other than an invisible file in the home directory.
+Make it so that it doesn't crash randomly with
memory errors.
+Make it so that it emulates RAVE (QuickDraw 3D
Hardware).
+Make it so that ColorSync uses color correction on
the "monitor" so that stuff made on SheepShaver shows
up properly on other OSes.

There may be other enhancements that can be done, but
I have run out of ideas tthat would make SheepShaver
better.

Good luck!

Windows port

I noticed that there are no compiled Windows ports of
disk in Basilisk II using a disk image file?? I love
Basilisk II and the only thing I see missing is this..

SoftMac (Ugh, GAG!!!) for all it's faults does have SCSI
emulation using a disk image file..

I am a computer programmer and although I have never
worked on emulation, and don't have any idea how to
program any kind of emulator, maybe there is something
I could help with? Or, if someone could point me in the
right direction of SCSI emulation, I could work on this?

Thanks,
the entire CPU is taken up since MAC OS does not
reliquinish the CPU back to the Host's CPU. Therefor
your Host OS run's at 100% utilization. I know I can
change the Low Power Mode and set the number of
Miliseconds to sleep. But that is not the most
efficient way of dealing with this problem. Much like
when you run emulation software like SoftPC or VMWare
you need to run Idle software to allow the guest OS to
return idle CPU loops back to the Host OS.

In theory all it should require is to write an
extension or something which tells MacOS that when it
is idleling to return those idle cycles back to the
CPU, then I would hope that BasiliskII would return
those idle cycles back to the host OS.

This is seen in the thread:
can't switch resolutions on-the-fly in Basilisk II, I
think that support for this feature might be the
solution to a problem with a particular game that
many people are trying to get to work on Basilisk II -
- it has this one monitor problem that shows up a
lot, and other emulators, specifically Fusion, don't
run into this problem but aren't as good as Basilisk,
so they have other problems. See the topic <a
