Mostly when croping a scan of an article or book chapter text the scanned source is doublesided. Thus two crop rectancle are needed. Mostly a second segment is added. All in all I've to size and position four crop rectangles. I'd like to have all four (or two) pages to be of the same size. Rightnow the size of each crop rectancle has to be adjusted on sight, one by one. Thats quite a lot of manual fumbling, when processing a batch of say 5-10 scans at a given time.
It would be very handy
a.) to transfer the size of one croprectangle to another - something like a brushfunction in wordprocessor or spreadsheet, that transfers the objectattributes from one element to the other. Here a keyboard shortcut would do, eg. CNTR-<down-arrow> transfers the cropRec-Size the cropRec below, if there is any, CTRL-<left>, CTRL-<right>, CTRL-<up> analogously
b.) to have a feature to look the size of a croprectangle, once it's right
c.) to have a numerical property entry dialog to size a retangle in inches or centimeter
d.) a feature to make all croprectangles exactly the same size simultaneously
d.) an permanent feature to store the croprectangle layout, giving it an name, to be reused at later programm runs, to quickly set the croprectangles for a give booksize in a snap. Those cropsets to be choosen by name with a combobox by the given name. Size and position to be stored. Size to be looked when restore, but might be unlooked by a context-enuefunction to be clicked at. Position should be open to be changed all the time.</up></right></left></down-arrow>
Some help screen should inform about these features.
That's about all I could think off.
After several months of usage I found the helpmenu. I think it's a bit unconventional to put the help in the file men. The convention (windowsstyle) is to put the help into a HELP or ABOUT menuentry into the menubar.
By reading the help I found out that some functionallity requested/needed is already there. After all these months I found out, that the size is displayed onscreen, when the rectangle is selected (very nice, though undocumented yet).
Beside better placement of the help-Menu, and that mentioned missing infos in the HELP, things are very well already, once the hidden treasures of functionality are found.
Still another thing is missing:
The sizeinformation displayed when the rectangle is selected is a great thing. Here Another idea: Why is this information not displayed in all states, thus in unselected state too? Whould be a good help and prevents this feature to be overseen, like I did the last six month ;-)
As a print/picture of this useful feature would be helpful, too. It could be posted in the wiki in soureforge here. (pic in attachment). Maybe setting up a homepage somewhere would help to promote this tool.
An unlucky and unweary guy complained about the tool, because it clips the information, but not definitely cut away unvisible information. For me clip and real-cutoff both have its advantags. Anyway a word of warning might be useful in the documentation.
Is there a way to impelment an optional cutoff of the invisible parts. Confidelity is on argument, size of outputfile is another.
So far thanks for this very functional contribution.
