We would like to add a simple routine to let the bandwidth of any user go without limit for up to 5 seconds before the CBQ applies the traffic shape, every time there is a request.

In other words, if the user opens a browser and navigates, CBQ will provide full (no limit) bandwidth for 5 seconds and then limit to the script.

The same user starts a ftp download, for the first 5 seconds full speed (no restriction) but after that period of time the CBQ applies the rule and limits what ever bandwidth he has in the script.

The idea behind it to provide better user experience in surfing the internet, since browsing is for short periods of time.

Do you think this is possible to do?...if yes...how?...

Splitting Bandwith Equally

The ability to split the bandwith equally amongst an #
of users.
The ability to set a maximum on the number of bps a
user (not one specific, but any user) can use at one
single time.

Let's say you have 200 Kbps to spare but you don't
want a sigle user to be able to use more than 100Kbs
and when the bandwith is being split, you dont want it
to go under 20kb per user. So if you would have 10
users, it would use the full 200kb bandwith.

That is a function that I dream of.

filtering who have more then 1500 rules by 2 rules
per user.

Read this:
http://lartc.org/lartc.html#LARTC.ADV-
FILTER.HASHING

Now I have some problems with CPU 100% load if
use more then 500 rules.

Set upload and mac adres

Also diferent upload en download and use mac adress.
(largely because it's so powerful). Plugging in the right
values is a real challange, even with the script.

What would be nice is two additions to the script, as
follows:

1) A tool which uses the various ping-like tools to test
the port, and compare the actual traffic behaviour with
the values you wanted

2) A herustic which can use (1) to tweak the values
(how doesn't matter) until what you get is what you
intended

Limit bandwidth by MAC address and no IP

Would it be possible to limit the bandwidth access by
MAC address and not by IP. The computers on my
network use dynamic IP's and the users are smart
enough to change there IP's to bypass the limiter.
upload it's possible set a diferent speed to upload?? like this

RATEDOWN=128kbit
RATEUPLOAD=32kbit

if it's possible can someone tell how i have to do???
