You can change the opacity to alpha. Add this:&lt;br /&gt;
Main_opacity=alpha&lt;br /&gt;
Submenu_opacity=alpha&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;On top of that you have to convert the two background bitmaps to 32-bit and set the alpha channel to all white.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;It won't look very nice though. I have a skinning question.  I've taken the Metro skin and customized colors, sizing to better match my Windows 8 installation.  Not using bitmaps but simply the Main_background= option; I've commented out the Main_bitmap entries.  However, Classic Shell always paints a thin border (1 pixel) on the outside of the menu (top, bottom, right only it seems; left seems clipped and there's an open ticket from someone else on that). &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Is it possible to remove this border?  It would be more consistent with the Modern Style (Metro).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;</summary></entry></feed>
