Have you ever placed a standard Microsoft Calendar control on your forms? Didn't it look ugly? Maybe we could have a stylish calendar too (if you're working on clock... ;-)

Bye,
Erio

dog-ear

Hi,

Okay, I think this could become a little bit tricky: you certainly have seen dog-ears on websites which show more information on mouse-over. Could you implement something like this for forms? I think the old-school ?-menu item for help text isn't really adequate for your stylish buttons.

Bye,

Erio

spotlight

And another idea for a control:

Imagine you've a control which blends down the whole form and makes a spot anywhere. I think you could place a picture for this over the whole form which has an opacity of about 30 percent and a transparent color specified. You place then a filled circle in this transparent color on this picture and voila - you've your spot.

For what?

for example for making tutorials for using complicated programs: You can "dim" the whole form and show a "spot" on a special button while you explain some features of this button in an extra textbox.

or for example for cool splash screens where event two or three spots drive around on your Logo

Ok, I think you know what I meant ;-)

Bye,
Erio

Virtual curtain

ah yes,

here's my next idea:

especially on multimedia programs (video players and so on) a control which simulates a virtual curtain like in theatre would be extra extra cool.

I'd propose following properties:

curtain colour
curtain style (old fashioned with ruffles and golden ropes, modern - without those things)
open/close speed
open/close direction (left/right, up/down)
stay visible - controls if curtain is visible if it's opened (or moves completely out of the picture)
maybe even a property for very little movement in random timespans to make look it more realistic

Methods:
open, close

Bye,

Erio

RollingButton

Hi,

Another idea for a new kind of button (haven't seen this anywhere else before):

Imagine a roll of (toilet *g*)-paper. On each sheet there's some text (or even gfx?). You can choose one value of this button by using your mouse scroll button. The advantage of this would be that one could save space on the form.

This control would be similar to a spin button which is combined with text or let's say the "DomainUpDown"-Control, but it should look more 3dimensional.

Maybe one could specify the "virtual diameter" of the roll so that one can see a little bit of the previous and following text-elements - or even two or more previous and following elements?

Bye,

Maybe you can extend your new Start Menu so that StartMenuButtons enlarge while moving the mouse over like on the Macintosh? I think this could look good even with buttons with rectangle borders like your StartMenuButtons.

Bye,

A color gradient or something like that (maybe even a background picture?) would be nice as a background for the listbox.

A tachometer would be nice too. Often in combination with green/yellow/red sections. I haven't seen really good looking (cool) tachometers very often... something for designers ;-)
