KDE headers?

Hi!

I'm trying to install dbdesigner on my Gentoo box. I
use Gnome, but I have KdeLibs and Qt both installed.
However, "./configure" stops with:

checking for KDE... configure: error:
in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers
installed. This will fail.
So, check this please and use another prefix!

Do I need to install the whole KDE (which I don't use)
before being able to install dbdesigner?

For the entry screens I shouldn't have to find and press a button to create new rows, etc.

Actually what would be kick-ASS would be a spreadsheet-style entry system where I could quickly move around, select data types and names and tick off things like "not null" "primary key" etc.
