table at some time interval or when the chat window is

If you login to chat with the name, let's say Jack and
then come back later and login as Jack again, it
creates a new userid with a duplicate name instead of
finding the name in the table and just updating the
lastseen time. So you end up with a new entry into the
user table everytime you login. This causes multiple
entries for the same person. Is there a way at it's
current stage of developement to keep this from
happening?
