Define commands per extension

It would be nice to be able to define different commands depending on the file extension (or even more flexible: depending on a regexp), and depending on whether the arguments are files or directories. This way, a special directory comparison tool could be called for directories and *.doc files could be compared with another tool than e.g. *.cpp files.

Swap order of files to compare

Currently, when comparing two files, the file that was selected last will be passed first to the compare command. While this makes sense if you think of the last selected file as a reference that can be compared to any previously selected file in the "Compare to" menu, I prefer to think about it the other way, the file selected last should also be passed last (i.e. second) to the compare command. Therefore, I'd like to suggest to add an option named like "Swap argument order" to the setup to swap the order of the command line arguments for a 2-way compare.

Remove files from list after comparison

It would be nice if files could be optionally removed from the "Compare to" list in the context menu once they have been used for a comparison. This could be implemented by a new option in the setup program.

Remove CVS remainders from SVN

It would be nice if you could remove CVS related files and directories from SVN for clarity, e.g. delete CVSROOT and cvsadmin directories (if present) and migrate .cvsignore to svn:ingore propteries and then delete the files (if present).

Disable CVS access

It seems SVN is used for active development. Thus, I'd like to suggest to disable the (old) CVS repository, so developers know where to get the latest source code from. Disabling CVS in SF just removes the menu entry from the project site. It does not disable access to the CVS repository if you know the URL nor does it alter any files.

Add .bat and .cmd file filter

Add a filter for "Batch Files" of the above types to the "File of type:" drop-down boxes in the dialogs to browse for compare commands.

Store menu icons as files

I think storing the context menu icons as files in (a sub-directory of) the installation directory instead of compiled-in resources would be a good idea. This way, people could easily change the icons just by copying files to a directory.

Misc. minor interface improvements

Hi,

here are a few misc. minor suggestions:

- Add a clickable link to the homepage in the About dialog.

- Make all "compare ..." texts in the context menu
uppercase, i.e. "Compare ...".

- "3 way" should be "3-way".

- Add some nice context menu icons.

- Add a separator and a "Clear" entry to the cascaded
"compare to" menu, to remove all file entries from that
menu. After selection this "Clear" entry, all "compare
to" menus should be empty and disabled exactly as after
a fresh install.

- Instead of disabling and graying out the "compare to"
menu entries if there are no files (yet), do not show
the entries at all.

- Installer: Either refer to supported languages in
English, or in the respective native language, but do
not mix the approaches. I.e. the first installer dialog
offers "Japanese" and "Deutsch". IMHO "Deutsch" should
become "German" (same goes for Russian) to match the
language selection later in the installer.

BTW: Thanks for the x64 and Unicode versions :-)

64-bit shell extension

It would be nice to have a native x64 version of the
whole package, so the 64-bit Windows Explorer under
Windows XP x64 will be able to use the shell extension.
