It would be great if the docdb could support czech characters. Have a look at

Add Password for Database user

It would be good if one could supply a password which
is used for connecting to the database. For MySQL the
solution would be as simple as adding a new
configuration variable

$DBUSERPASS="" to includes/config.inc

and changing line 34 in mysql.inc
to (probably als add a check whether the password is empty)

$conn = mysql_connect( "localhost", $DBUSERNAME,
$DBUSERPASS );

This would need some complementing code in install.sh.

Bibtex button in doc_view.php

It would be nice to be able to get the bibtex output
while in the doc_view.

add database field to hold abstract text

Abstracts are very helpful when searching for
differences between similar-sounding references. By
adding a medium or long text field to the database, the
abstract could be entered in full and later searched
for content. This is the one item I'd really like to
see added to this tool.

BibTeX input and output

I find that getting references into and out of docdb is
quite cumbersome.

The input process would be much improved if one could
copy-and-paste an entire BibTeX entry (or multiple
entries) into a form rather than copying each field
individually.

I use EndNote when writing papers, but it is not so good
as a document database. So, it would be nice to be able
to save all the results of query to a .bib file that could
then be imported into EndNote.

Hello,

do you plan to add the management of user tags
(keywords) or user defined categories so that the
database can be browsed like a directory tree?

Do you plan to add some simple version tag? I think
this would be interesting to nicely keep track of all
the versions of a paper under preparation. Another
interesting feature could be the possibility to upload
more than one file for each document entry, e.g. .pdf,
.ps, the figures already extracted for later use..
