No

Hello

Your project is very interesting. This looks like a
cheap backup solution for personal use.

The most interesting part is the conversion of any
file to a DV compliant stream. Once we're there, any
good DV control software can send and retrieve the
files to/from the camcorder.

Will it be possible to have the conversion software
available for the Microsoft Windows environment ?

Thanks.

Alvaro.

    Hi,

actually dvbackup is straight ANSI C which should compile
under windows. (If I accidently used some GCC-extensions you
    might want to
try the GCC port for windows.) Unfortunately I do not have
    any experience
with windows. So you are on your own.

    Greetings,
    Peter

    hello Peter

I tried to compile it using the DJGPP package which
includes GCC for DOS but I'm missing the zlib.h and popt.h.

I guess functions like adler32 are in those libs and I
wasnt able to find Win32 equivalent libs.

I will look further to see if I can find a replacement.

    Thanks for replying anyways

    Regards,
    Alvaro.

    Hi,

You most likely should use cygwin I presume.

But nevertheless: This program generates RAW DV data and I
    don't know
if any windows DV application wants to transmit those
    directly. (It would
be possible to generate DV AVIs, but then you would get a
really disturbing audio track on your tape... (I use some
    header flags to disable
audio, but this most likely can't be done with AVIs.)

Probably your best bet is to install a small Linux system to
do the backup. (Would probably fit on one floppy disk.)

    Greetings,
    Peter

I've already made it work in windows. The project can be
compile in MS C++ 6.0. So if Peter and Guido want, I can
send them the changes that I made. May be they did that
changes already. I've already made saving to avi files work but
I haven't tested to see if the files can be transferred to dv
camera and restored back. When I open that the avi file in
virtualdub, it reported that the file only have video. I played it
back using windows media player and could here no sound at
    all.
