I've seen this error before, probably on this forum. But I don't know if it had a solution.

As this error pops when the Device Selector is testing the 3 available APO techniques for the mic you might try to do this manually instead. Uncheck the "Auto" check box and select an APO technique from the "Install as" dropdown box and hit the Ok button. Then try it out on your mic after lowering or amplifying it by a pre amplifying command. If this command (or any other command) is working you're done.
