The .dmg file appeared to mount OK, and the installer appeared to sail through all bu the last step, then failed in the post-install. here are the Console messages:

Missing and corrupted directories

This was on a 1.5TB disk, mounted read-only. One directory of files (all gzip'd) would not read correctly - 'gzip -t' reported them broken and they did not match a previously taken checksum. Another directory appeared empty. When the drive was installed in a Linux machine (running CentOS-5), everything was normal.

crashed after trying to dump a test ext2 image

kernel panic

Kernal panic mounting bad drive in low power

USB external macalley NSA2-350U enclosure powering up a single seagate 7200 rpm 320 gb drive that had already been plugged into the USB port (perhaps some under-power stuff??? i'd hope the USB chip in the enclosure would prevent that). EXT2FS 1.4d4 kernel panic'd my machine; system froze.

Drivers should not kernel panic the host.

After rebooting the mac I tried again after the enclosure had powered up and did not get a panic. My drive needs consistency-fixing apparently (prefs pane told me to use disk utility) but it did mount after a bunch of grinding...Is the Preferences pane not synchronized with a background-automounter? E.g. it did mount but there was no "I'm automounting this drive, hang on!" message in the Prefs pane.

Thanks for the rad utility - still saved my tuckus.

uninstalling bug

After uninstalling the application by double-clicking on the Ext2Uninstall.command, every new terminal tries exectute the command and exit again (though the disk image is unmounted)... I must start a new terminal while typing ctrl-c to prevent it to try to execute and exit again...

Cannot write on ext2/ext3 with Leopard

I can easily mount ext2 and ext3-partitions on a MacBook Air using 10.5.2 Leopard. Unfortunatly I can't write on these partitions. I tried checking them with e2fsck, converting the ext3-partition to a ext2-partition, to no avail. It always mounts read-only:

/dev/disk2s3 on /Volumes/Storage (ext2, local, nodev, nosuid, read-only, noowners)

It says in the "info"-part, that it is not writable. But why?

I have a 160GB LACIE d2 Hard Drive "Extreme" with 100GB of important, Linux-formatted data on it. I am running 10.4.11 on a PowerBook G4. I connected the drive to my laptop with the USB 2.0 cable.

I downloaded Mac OS X Ext2 Filesystem so that I could mount the disk. I installed the software, and rebooted.

After I came back from lunch, it had all worked, and my drive was mounted. EXtFSManager can see the disk, and reports:"Filesystem: Linux Ext3 (Journaled)"

I then copied a couple of text files over to the drive to make sure things were working. All seemed well.

I then started a job which accessed the files on the drive. Things were working fine. About a half hour through the job, I turned my laptop for someone to see the monitor. I got an error, and the drive was no longer accessible in the finder. I jiggled the cables, but nothing happened. Opening the EXTFS system panel, it can detect the drive, but not mount it. It reads "Disk Error" and "Message:Disk not ready". Disk Utility says: "1 non HFS volume detected. Volume needs repair".

I tried rebooting my machine, and reconnecting the drive. Same result. The drive is no longer accessible.

Is my disk dead? What the hell happened?
Have I lost all of my data because I trusted some freeware?!

If a system log would be helpful, I can include one. Please let me know.
