#260 Unprotected interfaces automagically change to protected

Hi All,

built and installed the latest and shiniest version (debugging info below) and found that unprotecting interfaces in a Linux/iptables firewall object did not stick. Something fishy in the interface. Don't have the time to debug, will although answer direct queries for more info.
