When trying to save file after making a new DB, software crashes.

GenerationX has problems with both adoptions & same-sex families.
There is no work-around, and it causes real problems with the
program. (But not fatal in the sense of crashing.)

Adoptions:
Mom A and Dad B have a daughter C. Mom A & Dad B divorce.
Mom A remarries Dad D. Dad D now wishes to adopt daughter C.
Unfortunately, adding this bit of information in caused the program
to somehow track Mom A as Dad D's daughter -- clearly inaccurate
and troublesome.

Same-Sex Families:
This one is going to obviously cause problems, since so much of
the program's defaults are based on gender. That should probably
change to be more flexible. For instance, when I added a same-sex
marriage, it doesn't show up under the other person.

These two problems together will certainly cause more problems. In
these days of open adoptions and blended families, the software
recreation of two-parent, male-female couple defaults just make
tracking what's really going on very difficult.

App just isn't functional

Specs: Dual 1.4 GHz mirror Door G4 with 10.3.9.

App Crashes:
1. App will freeze loop in error message if you accidentially make a
spouse a child or vice-versa.
2. App freezes when saving and does not save records (I lost an
hour's worth of work that way).

App loops.
1. App will not let you delete marriage even if you are in Family
Mode.

Interface.
1. Drop down menus very time-consuming. It is better to key enter
data.
2. App cannot handle incomplete dates, I find that if I just add
month and year, or just year, the app assumes dates.
3. It is very counter-intuitive and time consuming to link people
through marriage using a menu item without a button or key
command.
4. It is very time consuming to link a parent and child by typing a
name. maybe drag-and-drop names from side list?
5. You need to be able to see further than just the great-grand
parents on the pedigree chart (unless the next column only
becomes visible if there are enough names.

This looks like it has great potential, but it still needs work. A lot of
times we're going to be key-entering raw data and we need a
system that does not require us to shift from ouse to key and back
again.

Keep up the good work. No need to respond, I'll just keep my
eyes open for the next version.

Death of parent before birth of child

GenerationX doesn't allow a parent to have a date of death before
the birthday of a child. But this IS possible, at least in case of the
father who might pass away during the mother's pregnancy.
This check prevents me from entering my anchestors, that's why I
suggest to remove it or at least only give an alert instead of
preventing the entry.

expoert to html dies

This only happens with one file I have, so I don't know
if it's a bug or not. But I try to export a gedcom to
html and is just dies... the export.. not the program.
It's as if the program doesn't even know it was trying
to export. I can continue working on the file...

Selection in FAM list not synced with other tabs

The selection in the Family list is not synched with the other lists
when you move from one mode to another.

Steps:
0) launch GenerationX 2.4.1
1) open a gedcom file with several individuals & families
2) in individual mode, select an individual
3) switch to Family mode
Note the selection will be the first family in the list, not the
family record of the individual
4) select a family
5) switch to decendants mode
Note that the person displayed is the one chosen in step #2

I would expect that switching to family mode from individual
would select the first family belonging to the individual selected.
Translating a family selection into an individual is a bit trickier,
but for arguments sake, say that the male in the family would be
selected if you made a selection in Family mode and switched to
one of the other modes.

HTML export stops working

After succesfully exporting the contents to HTML format a couple of
times, I added more individuals and the export tool never worked
again. It exports the first part, but when it gets to "Building
Individual Pages" it gets stuck in that point. Even deleted the app
file and installed a new fresh copy, and the same happens. Could it
be a limitation in the number of entries?

Hello, i'm french user, so apologize me for my english

i've some problems with the latests version
1° when i put some data and when i look the
descendant form, the data aren't correctly show. For
example i put soon at person A and other at person B
and i could see all soons at person B
2° when i m in the view descendant of person A, and i
add a new person not related with A, the view show me
some '****' in the place of the name of person
3° when i put a new person i could see in the detail
window at the rigth some phantom evenment as
Mariage, Adoption ...

and i've some news functions to ask you
1° when i put new data, it s good help to have a list of
place (and dictionnary) and not have to type each time
something as 'Echassičres,03330,,Allier,Auvergne,France'
2° same for source
3° may i request to obtain a wheel ascendance ?
4° may i request to have color to identify the branch of
the tree in a family ?
5° may i request to have a button to expand all
descendant in one time in the view descendant ?
6° may i request to have in the person view all soons in
the bottom of screen, in a table, to navigate quickly ?

Go Button not working.

after editing the record, selecting the Go button for
either of the parents does nothing.
