&lt;p&gt;If two columns are analysed jointly by a single &lt;code&gt;stats&lt;/code&gt; command, the suffix&lt;br/&gt;
 "_x" or "_y" is appended to each variable name.&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;After reading the documentation, I thought that doing&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;div class="codehilite"&gt;&lt;pre&gt;&lt;span&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="n"&gt;stats&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="n"&gt;file&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="n"&gt;u&lt;/span&gt; &lt;span class="mi"&gt;1&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="p"&gt;:&lt;/span&gt;&lt;span class="mi"&gt;2&lt;/span&gt;
&lt;/pre&gt;&lt;/div&gt;


&lt;p&gt;min and max of the second collumn would be in set in &lt;code&gt;STATS_min&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;STATS_max&lt;/code&gt;. However, these variables don't exist. They appear as &lt;code&gt;STATS_min_y&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;STATS_max_y&lt;/code&gt;. &lt;code&gt;STATS_min&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;STATS_max&lt;/code&gt; only appear if using&lt;/p&gt;

&lt;p&gt;I didn't find &lt;code&gt;STATS_min_y&lt;/code&gt; and &lt;code&gt;STATS_max_y&lt;/code&gt; documented anywhere.
