Thanks for the log. I can't see anything untoward there. Having got gscan2pdf in a state where the scan button is ghosted so that you can't click it, you say that quitting the program and restarting isn't enough.

Can you give me another log file where you restart gscan2pdf in that state, i.e. before you delete the config file? Please open the scan dialogue - the scan button will be ghosted - then quit and post the log file.

I attached a new log.xz that documents my settings. I tried different formats after I manually set the y-scan-area value but the value just does not update anymore...

The log file you attached has the end missing, I expect because you uploaded before quitting gscan2pdf. Would you mind posting another, having opened gscan2pdf, reproduced the problem, and quit? The file should then have been compressed with .xz.

Yes, my Epson GT-20000 is indeed connected via network BUT I configured my dhcp-server to always give this specific IP address to the scanner, so it does not change between sessions!

Looks like this problem is related to a manual setting of the scan top-left or bottom-right value!

As long as I choose the paper size from the Scan area drop-down, it automatically adjusts the right-bottom x and y values and everything works as expected.

But as soon as I manually enter any right-bottom x or y value it will use this setting for the next scans, but if I change the Scan area drop down again to a new format, scan2pdf will NOT update the right-bottom x, y values accordingly and saves wrong settings.

Current workaround is closing gscan2pdf, delete gscan2pdfrc in .config and restart again with default settings.

So the bug-title would need to be updated to this specific problem...

Apologies for the delay in responding. December never has enough hours in it.

I suspect the problem is that the epkowa backend embeds the IP address in the device name, and if it picks up a new IP address, then it won't find the scanner.

The workaround would probably be to scan for devices from the device dropdown on the scan dialogue.

Please try the above next time you have the problem. If it works, then I'll add a check for an IP address in the device name and suggest the new scan to the user.

XSane works well with network scanner epson gt-20000 and gscan2pdf also worked well for 1 day but now it seems to get stuck during device opening, resulting in an inactive scan button. I already tried to delete all gscan2pdf related files in ./tmp but the problem still persists.
