Needless to say, it works find here. Please start gscan2pdf from the command line with the --log=log option, quit, and post the log file here, which gscan2pdf should have compressed with .xz. I'll take a look and see if I can debug the problem.

Obviously, if when running from the CLI, the menus are displayed, Opensuse must be starting gscan2pdf somehow differently. Just to rule it out, please confirm that from the CLI, without the --log option, gscan2pdf shows the menus.

I just realized the menus display properly wether invoked from the application launcher or the CLI, however, pressing on any menu or opening a pdf directly vanishes them.
This shows on the CLI: (net.sourceforge.gscan2pdf:40056): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 12:33:31.060: gdk_wayland_window_set_dbus_properties_libgtk_only: assertion 'GDK_IS_WAYLAND_WINDOW (window)' failed
