firefox auto-install doesn't

Firefox does not autoinstall xpi files for me. How do I
download the xpi file so I can install it manually?

Getting errors when registering jabber user.

Hi,

I have installed IRSIM on my server, and I have
followed all the install details in the install file. However,
when I try to add a current jabber user account I get
this error.

Fatal error: Call to undefined function:
mhash_keygen_s2k() in C:\Program Files\Apache
Group\Apache2\htdocs\irsim\register.php on line 36

I also get the same error when adding a new IRSIM
local account. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?

Cannot complete install

Hi
I have installed IRSIM, however when I try to register a
user I get the following error:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a
valid MySQL result resource
in /home/w5xcom/public_html/messenger/register.php on
line 82
Registration successful !
Continue to register another user.

It said 'Registration successful', so I Tried to login, using
the newly created account, and recieved the error
shown below:

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a
valid MySQL result resource
in /home/w5xcom/public_html/messenger/login.php on
line 45

Warning: mysql_num_rows(): supplied argument is not a
valid MySQL result resource
in /home/w5xcom/public_html/messenger/login.php on

ERROR !

Invalid username - password
OR
Username already in use (logging it out, now).

I have checked the code, re-installed the program, tried
all the fixes I could think of!
Any Ideas, I would love to get this working but have hit
a brick wall now!

Installation process issues

I´m interested in IRSIM because I need to use jabber
messages in an intranet with ssl. The use of an Windows
client don´t satisfies my security policies.

Today I have an Jabber server installed on an linux
server and it works fine with exodus clients.

Two weeks ago I found IRSIM and interested me.
I downloaded the zip file, transfered it to my linux
test server (the same where jabberd and mysql are
installed) and unpacked it to /var/www/default/httpd/irsim.

Then I saw the readme file. The pre-requisites were OK
(...use a standard MySQL Database ... any server with PHP
support installed, and Mysql database support).

Next I saw the install file. The step 1 was already done
(/var/www/default/httpd/irsim).

Then I created the two tables on my MyQql like explaned on
step 2.

Then I changed the "programs.inc.php" and
"site.inc.php" files to reflect my instalation.

The first problem occured when I run index.php. The erros
was it can't find the database. I changed the "hostName"
variable from the DNS of my server to "localdomain". This
resolved the problem, I don´t know why, but it resolved.

The next problem came with mhash. This isn´t installed
on my PHP. The quick solution was to simplify the functions
encriptInp in register.php and validateEncription in
login.php.

This was only to be able to create a new irsim user and to
see the IM.php page.

Wonderfull. Now I have a new irsim user exactly the same
that I´m using with exodus.

Now my qustion is: what I have to do now? I couldn´t send
nor receive messages with irsim.

Can you help me? I think the same explanation would be
interesting for other users. The forum is still to poor.

Buddy username registration process.

Registration of buddies is done via the same mechanism that
you used to register your own user account on the
IRSIM. So far I have not
created an "ADD buddy" capability, so all accounts are in
the same database table.
The process of creating a buddy is not straight forward
because
the "ADD buddy" code doesn't exist in the IRSIM. So,
for now
the way it's done is described below:

The buddy "nickname" field can accept anything you pick
for that
buddy (just like it was any nickname that you created for
yourself.)

The actual username is dependent on which JABBER SERVER
you choose to use, as well as which Transport Service
Instant Messenger your buddy is using.
For example, if you use a free server by the name of
"zim.net.au"
as your Jabber Server while your buddy is using ICQ,
and your buddy's
icq number is 1234567 then that buddy's email address is:
1234567@icq.jabber.zim.net.au . You need to enter that
strange
looking address into the username field of the IRSIM
new user
registration window.
Since I have not yet written the code to register that
buddy
into "zim.net.au", the only way you have of registering
that
buddy with that free server is to use an existing
Jabber client
program (there are many free clients out there), like
"exodus",
to register user "1234567" as an ICQ user with that
"zim" server.

In summary:
(1) you'll need to use an existing server client,
other than the IRSIM, to create such buddy user on some
Jabber
server out there (Once I write the IRSIM code this
particular
way of registering buddies would be done directly from
the IRSIM).
(2)You will still have to enter the full buddy
username (1234567@icq.jaber.zim.net.au), that you
registerd with the "zim.net.au"
server (via the "exodus" program), into the IRSIM "new
user"
registration window.
(3) You'll have repeat the whole registration process
for each
buddy that you wish to add. (At the moment, I have no
software that will read a list of buddies and enter
them into the IRSIM user table. If I did have such code
it would still not change the issue of
needing to register each of the buddies with some Jabber
server (which I also need to write code for, as
describe in step 1.)

With instant messengers other than ICQ, the buddy
usernames are
translated into even stranger looking beasts. For example:
An MSN IM user does not have something like an ICQ
number, so the
Jabber transport mechanism creates an address like this:
buddy%hotmail.com@msn.jabber.zim.net.au
A Yahoo IM user might have a username like this:
buddy%yahoo.com@yahoo.jabber.zim.net.au
A Jabber IM user has a simple looking name like this:
buddy@jabber.zim.net.au

Would you suggest I enable my server as a jabber server?

You definitely do NOT need to install a Jabber server
on your
system to use the IRSIM capability. There are many existing
Jabber server gateways out there that can be used
freely by the IRSIM.

Some of these Jabber server gatewas are listed in the
'Jabber-Servers.inc.php' file that is part of the IRSIM.

You can
pick the gateway you wish to use by switching the
currently used 'zim' gateway (variable assigned in the
config.inc.php file)
to one of the others. Alternatively you can add more
Jabber server gateways found on the net into the
Jabber-Servers.inc.php array (as many server gateways
as you wish can be added to the Jabber servers gateway
list.)

Using an array for config values.
