It's better to keep backup files with unique suffix such as date and times (eg: _YYYY-MM-DD_HHmmSS).

Is This Project Ongoing?

There doesn't seem to be any activity since mid-2007. Bugs/feature requests are not being assigned to anyone. I don't want to invest time learning something that is not going to change going forward. Can any developers respond yes/no?

Keep deleted files in a folder for future manual delete

I've been using synchronization program secondcopy and I've found usefull synchronize but never delete. Therefore synchronization is always unattended. Files that must be deleted instead are copied to a selected folder and I will delete them manually when I were sure I'm not losting anything. I can even keep n versions of my update files.

Show beginning and end of path

When a box is too short to display an entire path, you cut off the end:

C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documen...

This prevents the user from knowing which local path they're in, making the path listing useless because they're all the same.

The best way to do this is to cut out the middle and show both the beginning and end:

C:\Documents and S...\My Music\Favorite Band

hashsum checks

One thing is very necessary (not only) for me while comparing two file pairs:
when you have 2 files which are identical but the time is not then you will get a question what to do -> not good in my opinion

better is when there is the (optional) possibility to generate a hash sum of both files and compare this hash against each other and only when this didn't match ask the user!

I know that this would slow down the speed but I need it (and I believe I'm not alone).. So the next thing would be to generate hashes up to a user specified filesize only. Reason: to avoid that very big files would be slow down the speed extremely.

When a hashsum feature is implemented as an optional feature it wouldn't affect all users but only those like me that want to use this feature..

Would be great to hear something from you..

Regards

I am using JFileSync often with "directory type" = "local directory"
I am looking for a tool to synchronise my web site.

so I ask the question : What about adding a new "directory type" called "FTP server directory"?

I may be able to help you if you start this task

There are artists such as Bjork or Queensryche that have umlaut characters in them and JFileSync removes the character so "Bjork" becomes "Bjrk". ARGH!!

Add "Ignore Timestamps" functionality

I would like to be able to choose how to compare the files.
