How to get JMax version 4.1 to recognize jvm.dll on
window XP.

Right mouse click on my computer, choose properties
from the popup menu. Select the advanced
tab, click on "Enviorment Variables". You should now
see two dialog boxes. The top one called "User variables"
and a bottom one called "System variables". Under the
box called "User variables" there will be 3 buttons. New,
edit and delete. Select "New" under the "User variables
for xxxx" ( xxxx meaning your user name ). You will be
presented with the pop up dialog stating "New User
Variable"
and two inputs, "Variable name" and under it "Variable
value"
for the name put "PATH" no quotes. just PATH all caps.
Now in "Variable vaule" put the path ( location ) of
your jvm.dll file. for example my jvm.dll can be found
in my c drive at: C:\Program
Files\Java\j2re1.4.2_07\bin\client. This is what
the path "Variable vaule" needs. A path that leads to your
jvm.dll file.

A few special notes:
The current distribution of java is 1.5 but java installs
cumulatively by default so you should still have the
1.4 folder on your drive if you have updated your java.

I think ive made this as simple as possible to understand
in the near future I will have a link with images to these
instructions as I think it definately worth the effort.
I will
post it at my website http://fields.freefronthost.com/.
I hope
I have been helpful in some way to my fellow artist.
seems to be right, but there is no jvm.dll so I get an

Jmax is installed on "E:\Audio\jmax"
