Under KDE 4.2 Audio CD Playback starts and stops all the time.

support for non-unicode codepages in ID3 tags

Most of the music files used in East Asian countries don't use Unicode for ID3 tags, such as CP936 (GB2312) for Simplified Chinese. It would be nice if there can be an option to set codepages other than UTF-8.

Example:

A music file which uses GB2312 codepage for ID3 tags in KPlayer (the song title is messed up):

The same file played in Audacious (which is okay):

specify -dvd-device

Enable kplayer to play dvd from hard drive by specifying
-dvd-device mplayer command line option.

Playing CDs needs documentation

Hello, this page states that Kplayer can play audio CDs:

However, I couldn't figure out from the interface or the
documentation how to do this.

I tried opening /dev/cdrom which works with Kscd, but
that doesn't work in kplayer.

I get this error in the logs:

Failed to open /dev/rtc: No such file or directory
(mplayer should be setuid root or /dev/rtc should be
readable by the user.)
######

mplayer is already setuid root and /dev/rtc doesn't exist
on my system.
