Artist selected, but not playing??

When I go to the artist list and select an artist, the
LCD shows that Winamp is playing the first song by the
artist, but winamp is actually playing the song that
had been playing before. When the song that was
previously playing ends, the song that the LCD shows as
playing starts up. Why doesn't it start playing
immediately when I select it?
