decoded packet representing the decoded data items, &lt;br /&gt;
with DEFINEs for each bit.  So instead of having to &lt;br /&gt;
check the parsed packet type, you could just say &lt;br /&gt;
something like&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;if (p.dataitems &amp;amp;amp; DI_TIMESTAMP) {&lt;br /&gt;
// do something with timestamps&lt;br /&gt;
}&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;if (p.dataitems &amp;amp;amp; DI_POSITION) {&lt;br /&gt;
// likewise with positions&lt;br /&gt;
