I think it would be useful to add some kind of support for template IDs generation.

They are right now generated with a global variable, which means we have a limitation for the number of templates ( 65279 different templates) , and moreover, we cannot change the structure of one particular template: any time a template is generated it gets a new template ID.

Any plans to add this feature in the future?
