I would consider "won't fix" an acceptable resolution to this report, html validation can be done before it is run through markdownify. However I thought it might be helpful for there to be a record for this problem in case anyone else runs into it.

For example, try to parse this HTML with markdownify: "<pre>blah"

I get this error:
