Unicode filenames

mp3 tag tools fail to read file if it contains unicode characters in its name,
consider attached screenshot (mp3tt-1.2-build009-unicode-filenames.JPG)

All the files which contain accents in their names gave 'ERROR: File "unknown file" is not found'
(in Russian since I'm using Russian Windows)

OS: Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600] (Russian)
MP3 Tag Tools: v1.2 build 009

Windows Vista 64.

This is, probably, the best software to edit mp3 tags in the world, and I used it a lot on my old pc, which had windows 98. Now I've migrated to Windows Vista 64, and I can't use it right.

There is a glitch when I try to choose all the songs with the right click mouse. I can choose all the songs if I go 'down to up' (from the last music to the first), but I can't do it if I do 'up to down' (from the first music, to the last), and this is problematic, since if I do it 'down to up', all the information / tags disappear / are blank, and I can't do mass tagging, what I only can do is 'mass tagging removal' and not enter new info.

Please, please, please, pick this project again and update this little glitch. I'm using other software which I don't like just because I can't work right with this one on Vista :(

I'm using the last version of Mp3 Tag Tools.

Comments field not displayed on Mac's

Files saved on the PC with both id 3x1.1 and id 3x2.x tags do not correctly read when viewing on an Apple Mac. On the Mac, all tags are readable with the exception of the 'Comments' tag, which does not display.

Limit on number of simultaneous files?

Using Mp3 Tag Tools v1.2.008 and Windows XP:
When trying to mass edit tags on about 250 files, the
requested change went through for only 192 files, and
shortly afterward the system became unstable and had to
be rebooted.

No "Composer" Field in tag

ID3v2 has a "composer" field (among others) -- at least this is what WinAmp shows. It is not supported by Mp3 TT, which deletes whatever is in this field.

COMMENT field is truncated to 28 characters

The COMMENT field is truncated to 28 characters in both
the display and copying/transfer from ID3v1.1 to/from
ID3v2.x. WinAmp will show the full comment field
(such as my example: "Billboard Magazine #2 in 1988"),
but massid3lib truncates both the display and copy of
this comment field (such as my example: "Billboard
Magazine #2 in 198" --- missing the last digit in both
display and sync/copy)

Genre Problems

Just wanted to recap and expand the Genre problems.

v1.2b009

Read directory name to genre; no change to genre
field, all other fields are written normally.

Write genre as directory name; Error in renaming.
Other fields specified in the folder name are still
applied. Only the genre portion is ignored.

Genre's set in other program's such as iTunes; show as
genre number code.

Genre's set using the Write Tags feature are being
set, and read correctly by other programs.

One more, though not technically a bug....

Cannot use genre in the filename format (on any
version that I've used)

"delete picture" clears ID3v2 tag

Hi,

I went to 20+ mp3 managers. Yours is best! Thanks.
Only problem:
Deleting a pictures seems to clear the ID3v2tag.
Regaining it from ID3v1 has the following restrains:
- 'Genre' is lost if not ID3v1 conform
- Entries longer than ID3v1 format are lost (long
title, Artist, Album, comment etc.)
I have XP, use MTT version 1.2b9, ca. 3000 MP3s

Genre Showing Up Wrong

Nice program; perhaps I found a bug?

Instead of listing "Celtic" in the genre field, MP3
Tag Tools reports it as "(88)". These same files show
the genre field correctly in WinAMP as "Celtic".

I've seen this with other files, but have now
experienced it firsthand when encoding with the
recommended current LAME 32bits version 3.97 (beta 2,
Dec 22 2005) version.

Crashing while loading Files

Program crashes while initialy loading files from a
directory if you press the crtl-button.

System:

Windows XP Pro, SP2 + Patches till February 20th 06.

Intel Pentium Mobile 2,13 GHz
1 GB DDR2-RAM
