I notice that there is no miniChinput mailing list so I
decided
to post here...

I would like to contribute some problems and suggestions to
the development of miniChinput as well as a few questions.
I am using miniChinput as packaged with
Fedora Linux Core 1 (Red Hat).

1. When I type pin1yin1 the characters that appear in the
miniChinput window are very small. Is there a way to
the font used to display thecharacters so that they not
appear so small inside the character selection window.

2. Is there a way to limit the number of choices offerend
for a given input by specifying one of the four tones with
each initial-final syllable combination? This would be very
useful since sometimes there are a lot of choices.

3. Sometimes when I am using an application and open
another I have theproblem that pressing CTRL+SPACE
does not bring up a miniChinput window and I end up
having to log out and then back in again. Any ideas on
how to fix it?

4. Finally, it would be nice if redhat could allow users to
switch languages during a session without having to log
out and back in.

Thanks,

Neil (please reply to nzanella@ualberta.ca)

character not found

Hello,

When I input the character for goose (pinyin: e2) I
cannot locate
the corresponding simplified character from the list.
The character 鹅 is composed of 我 plus the
right hand side of 鸭.

How come I cannot find it on the list when I enter the
pinyin?

Thanks.

failed to recognize XLFD with space in it

miniChinput -0.1.9 cannot understand XLFD with space in
it in the Chinput.ad file.

Say, the Chinput.ad file

chinput.font                    =       8x16
chinput.gbfont                  =       -isas-fangsong
ti-medium-r-normal--16-160-72-72-c-160-gb2312.1980-0
chinput.gbkfont                 =       -isas-fangsong
ti-medium-r-normal--16-160-72-72-c-160-gb2312.1980-0

(please notice there is a space between "fangsong" and
"ti")
Will cause chinput prompt for "font -isas-fangsong not
found".

This is a bad problem: the above font I mentioned is
the default Chinese font in XFree86 4 as I installed
it. Many companies who cannot afford (or don't wish to
pay) for zysong fonts tends to use this default font,
and there should be a version of Chinput that can cope
with this font.

zrm cause minichinput to crash under FreeBSD

when using ZRM, most of HZ coded by asciis start with a
not: vsgo, which codes for CHINA. This does not happen
under redhat 9

details: ZRM was enabled by first using cin2tab to
obtain a zrm.tab and zrm.tab.phr. cce_hzinput.c was
edited to comment out the Qmode=1 lines. Then .chinput
was edited to include the ZRM module.

This may have something to do with the freebsd patch
since the cvs version won't compile under freebsd:
cd ImmModules; make
cd cce; make
cd turbo; make
cd src; make
