Mouse scroll wheel is currently unused in the UI. It could be used for changing position and zooming. For example like this:

when scrolling over the amplitude wave, zoom
when scrolling over the the position slider or 'zoom progress bar', move position
This could be an alternative method for the current way with clicking and sliding, I think this might even be more intuitive than old method.
