&lt;p&gt;I think ignoring ( and maybe watching too ) could be done for branch only too,&lt;br /&gt;
if done by ID chain.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I have realized in past it could by sometimes handy &lt;br /&gt;
to mark ignored only a branch of thread.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;E.g. it happens that huge, in general interesting, thread &lt;br /&gt;
has some not so interesting or even inapproriate branches,&lt;br /&gt;
