Repeated appointments on first sync (IrMC to Evolution 2)

Summary:

Initial synchronisation between Sony Ericsson K750i and
Evolution (2.2.3-5 from Debian testing) causes each
event on phone's calendar to appear twice in Evolution.
Subsequent synchronisations appear to be fine.

Method:

1. Create an event "Test" in mobile's calendar
2. Create new synchronisation pair
2.1 First plugin - IrMC Mobile Device (connect over
bluetooth)
2.2 Second plugin - Ximian Evolution 2, in options
select an empty calendar
3. Synchronise

Observation:

Event "Test" appears twice in Evolution calendar.

Summary:

Changes to a contact in Evolution (2.2.3-5 from Debian
testing) can cause corresponding contact to be deleted
(maybe made invisible) on a Sony Ericsson K750i.

Method:

1. Create new synchronisation pair
1.1 First plugin - IrMC Mobile Device (connect over
bluetooth)
1.2 Second plugin - Ximian Evolution 2, in options
select an empty addressbook
2. Synchronise (all phone entries should be copied from
mobile to Evolution)
3. Create a new contact called "AATest" with mobile
"123" on mobile (we don't want to lose one of our real
contacts, right?)
4. Synchronise
5. Edit "AATest" in evolution, by adding a home number
"456"
6. Synchronise

Observation:

Entry "AATest" no longer appears in the mobile's
contact list. Where has it gone?

Multisync website needs updates

The website definitely needs updates pointing to the
new roadmap, opensync, etc.

Looks like the project is dead, which is definitely too
bad... or is it ? No, I don't think so reading the
mailing lists archives ;)

kaddressbook plugin and irmc with kde 3.4 - vcard 3.0

My KDE Adressbook stores its Data with vcard 3.0 and the code
in kaddrbook.cpp, main part of the KDE Adressbook plugin
KABC::VCardConverter converter;
QString card = converter.createVCard(*it);
creates a vcard 3.0.

My mobile Siemens CX75 can only store 2.1, thats why
syncing an entry from the KDE-Adressbook to the mobile fails:

I changed the "VERSION:3.0" to "VERSION:2.1" for testing in
irmc_sync.c:irmc_pb_modify_or_delete -> everything works fine.

Problem with synchronization in field FN

I have mobile phone Simens S65.
I have decided to use multisync for synchronization
between my phone and
for example KDE organizer. But there is one problem.
The thing is
that my phone's directory records are made in the
non-Latin1 encoding. I
used Russian Letters. Problems have arisen in field
FN: in KDE
addressbook my records have been spoiled. I have been
trying to solve
the problem and have found out, that while
transmission the Vcard phone
is not give back field FN:. It turns out that when
this field is
absent the multisync itself forms it. But it forms
the field
improperly. Here an example (I used Latin1 instead of
utf-8 in my data
for convenience)

Looks like several things:

I'm on an x86 with FC 4.

1. The configure script things this is < version 1.4,
which is wrong. This needs to be fixed, before the
thing will build.

2. The configure script looks for libcal-client, and
others. I think that this lib file has been renamed or
something, because I have the correct pre-requs
installed, but it does not show up.

Cannot connect to SonyEricsson K500i

The K500i needs a USB cable to connect to the
computer. This works well after "waking up" the
pone's modem by sending an [Enter] to it by
means of a terminal emulator (i.e. GtkTerm).

palm_sync doesn't complie.

Since there no Category for palm_sync I'm going to file
this under "Main syncengine". This compile errror is
also against CVS ( as of 20050601) and 0.83cvs-14. I
intially I use "rpmbuild -ba multisync" on version
0.83cvs-14 and then decided to cvs for the up2date
source and still had this problem.

most of this appears to be a gcc3 - gcc4 version
change, that cause most of the problems... I really
not a programmer so I'm really on speculating... hope

"ADR" with "TYPE=HOME" gets additional "WORK" property added

ADR-lines in VCARD are mangled: the type "WORK" is
added if none can be found, but multisync does not
recognize "ADR;TYPE=HOME:" or similar. Therefore it
adds a "WORK" which screws up my SE K700i ...
(See line 550 "If no address type specified, add WORK
(mostly for Evolution)".)

Appointment Time Zones

Hello,

I'm using Multisync 0.82-fc2.1 and SynCE 0.9.0-1.

I find that when an appointment is editing from my
iPaq, the appointment's time zone returns to UTC, which
reflects in Evolution moving the appointment.

When I return to Evolution, I adjust the timezone back
to my original time zone, and the appointment is fixed.

Appointments on iPaq appear to be at the correct times,
so I can only assume time zone information is lost
during synchronisation.

I'm not sure if its a Multisync or a SynCE problem, so
I've logged here first and can followup with SynCE if
necessary.
