I installed openfi software and defragmented the DMP1
HDD -- the 'dead-time' between consecutively played
music files was significantly reduced from the DMP1
playback out-of-the-box. But there should be no
perceptible dead-time *period*, because it has a jarring
effect in certain albums where the continuous 'segues'
(artistically intended) are torn in two. (Not to mention
that passersby who overhear your music mistake the
effect for either scratched CDs or a poor audio system
that skips easily - embarrassing. :)

I don't know if any buffering like this would be possible,
but please get it a thought. If you were designing a
media player from the ground-up at least, I'd think this
would be an essential feature -- And please help us
finally divorce from the need to tote stacks of CDs
around still, which do not have this shortcoming in
playback! Thank you. :)
