apart from rtp protocol the programme should record rtsp
protocol as well. in order to record rm files.

Transmit & Receive on Different Ports

This feature is necessary to establish secure tunnels
between VAT peers using PRIVARIA, open-source software
that has been downloaded over 2700 times (!) in the
first week of its release.

PRIVARIA currently creates a pair of UDP tunnels to
establish an OpenMash video connection (works fine
under Windows 2000):
- Tunnel AB has a server on machine A that listens at
localhost port 5800 and relays (with encryption) UDP
packets to a client on machine B, which "sends" the UDP
packets from localhost port 5810 on that machine to
whoever is listening there.
- Similarly, tunnel BA has a server on machine B that
listens at that machine's localhost port 5810 and
relays to a client on machine A, from which packets
appear at port 5810.
A: VIC localhost/5800:5810 => Zebedee 5810:5800 ---
[tunnel] --- Zebedee 5810:5800 => VIC localhost/5800:5810
B: VIC (above) <= Zebedee 5800:5810 <---- [tunnel]
<---- Zebedee 5800:5180 <= VIC (above)

However, VAT needs a bit of patching to work with
PRIVARIA. It needs to (1) use different ports for
transmit and receive like VIC now does, or (2) one VAT
needs to be just a server and the other VAT needs to be
just a client. (Is the latter possible with UDP?)

spkr and mic on different devices

We need support for mic and speaker on different
devices - for example speaker on sound card and
microphone on USB camera, now such setup is
not possible, which is a pity since nowadays
USB cameras with a mic are very common.

I'd also like to suggest that anyone
announcing a session -- no matter what
the group range -- include the
source attribute:

c=IN IP4 232.3.4.5/127
a=incl:IN IP4 232.3.4.5 192.168.9.10

Doing this will allow SSM capable applications to
initiate a join toward the source without having to
also join the (*,G), allowing one to avoid having to
depend on MSDP.

vic output to video card

We would find it very useful in doing various types
of recording and bridging between technologies if
vic could write video streams out to a video output
card -ie, instead of drawing on a VGA screen, output
to something like the Hauppage WinTV card.

Has nyone seen this?

Is it possible to upgrade from "ugly" Tcl/Tk to Glut
or some other crossplatform widget that is more popular
and that would enable the BeOs version of OpenMash?

Mash should have a WDM video capture class. Some
cameras are happy with VFW, but some need WDM. There
shouldn't be any problems with supporting both.

autoplace should ignore muted streams

muted streams. Sounds like a good idea.
