&lt;p&gt;I have installed 2.4.26-openmosix1 in rhel 3.0-u4/ws.&lt;br /&gt;
I configured the host has nis client using authconfig and &lt;br /&gt;
edited the files /etc/yp.conf.&lt;br /&gt;
When i start the /etc/init.d/ypbind its says&lt;br /&gt;
Binding to the NIS domain:   OK&lt;br /&gt;
Listening for an NIS domain server...... failed&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;i checked whether the ypbind service is running. I could &lt;br /&gt;
not see ypbind process running&lt;br /&gt;
I checked whether the portmap is running the &lt;br /&gt;
portmapper is running.&lt;/p&gt;
