i downloaded and compiled p7zip_16.02_src_all.tar.bz2 from here
compile was done on my raspberry pi 3B running buster(debian 10)

i want to compress a large file in a NAS mounted on /mnt in my raspberry pi running buster

gzip 1.9 does this in 4 hours
7za takes 10+ hours to compre ss the same file

this is the file (dd output)
-rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 61530439680 Sep 20 02:17 backup_20200920_003002.img

what gives. what can i do to make 7z beat the gzip time?

First, why do you use pictures, it would be batter and faster to copy text of few of those error lines.

Second, it seems you don't have wxwidgets. Now, I don't know how well gui works, but you shoudl try to compile only command line (7z/7za) programs and you can always try unix generic makefile/s. It may help as well.

So I did "make clean" for the makefile that is specific to my Mac, which worked. Then I did make depend, but I keep getting an error, on the picture attached. Please help! It's never working no matter how many times I try.

Hi Igor,
The latest stable version of 7zip 18.05 has fixed CVE-2018-10115.

Also it should hopefully deal with the several ERROR: Unsupported Method 's I have expirenced that are resolved by install the nonfree plugin which I would rather not do.

Would it be possible to get a new version out and how hard is to convert the code base over?

7zG compile on macOS

Hi,

Folling the instructions I successfully compiled 7z, 7za, and 7zr.

Next I attempted to compile 7zG. This fail

fatal error: 'wx/setup.h' file not found

I downloaded wx source code and copied the wx directory with wxprec.h to the p7zip_16.02 directory (from where I run make. Thus p7zip_16.02/wx/setup.h. No success. I'm assuming I'm doing it all wrong.

Can you please give me advise, or point me somewhere, on how to fixt this dependancy on macOS so a non-programmer like myself can do it?

P7ZIP 16.02 installed in AS400 running into Authentication issues

Hi, I have a requirement to have my iSeries PC files to be zipped and sent out to the clients. Have downloaded the P7ZIP 16.02 available in SourceForge and installed. When I try running the 7za command(or any command for this matter), its running into some Authentication issues. Attached the steps I followed. Kindly review and help me resolving the issue. Your support in this regard is much appreciated!

I did test it and works fine, just takes way longer.
