On all platforms, it should be well integrated -- à la EditPlus 2 explorer menus.

1) For Windows, NSIS seems to be a good candidate.
2) For Linux, create Debian & RPM packages.
3) What to do for Mac?

Prepare the 0.1.0 file release

Make sure license information is in all source files, create release notes, change logs, readme files etc. Sign bundles if possible.

Set up the development environment

Set up the development environment in a way that is easy to use and easy to repeat. A new developer should find it very easy to start contributing, assuming he is using the latest Eclipse SDK with Mylar and Subclipse.

This includes:

1) Eclipse configuration: Eclipse 3.3 SDK, Subclipse (or subversive?), Mylar

2) Team project set file to easily get all the source.

3) Configuration of code style etc. independent of developer's workspace settings (project-specific seems like too much duplication, though?).

4) Target platform (RCP + other required plugins + Delta Packs)

5) Build process. Automated PDE build? Releng? Maven? This can be left to somewhat later, resolving to use manual PDE build at first.

6) Document all of this in the website. A wiki would be the best.

Command line params: path / URI handling

Per the current plan, Padclipse should open a file for every command line parameter entered that isn't already consumed by the Eclipse platform.

Currently these parameters are assumed to be URI-s, with the file: scheme assumed if no scheme part is given. For example:
/home/erkkil/file.txt would become file:file.txt

This doesn't work on Windows, which has drive letters in the paths like C:\file.txt

Opening http: and other URI-s should be possible as well.

Find a platform-independent best practice to handle these parameters in the most user friendly way possible. If platform-independence is hard to achieve, then find a platform-specific user friendly way to do it.

Open File should be a command

Open File should be a command, otherwise it can't be assigned a binding in the proper way.

Perhaps even more general concern is removing the dependency on org.eclipse.ui.ide and creating a net.sf.padclipse.(ui.)ide bundle to replace it. However, that should be tracked in another issue.
