&lt;p&gt;Actually, I already re-coded the whole pixel/image subsystem in my working copy and also added support for loading float formats (tested on OpenEXR and HDR), I just don't know whether anyone is interested in my changes and how to eventually incorporate them into the project.&lt;/p&gt;
