how about an add-on to use the parameters of the menu-
file in the template and/or content files?

at least to make available the parameters of the
currently processed menu item ( .SELF definition block )
should be quite simple.

sample:
CLASS; MNAME; LINK; IMAGE; TEXT;
00.01; Home; $home/index.htm; home.jpg; Home

and then in the template (or content) file:
<img src="{IMAGE}">

Character encoding should not be hard-coded in the Editor

Character encoding "iso-8859-1" is hard-coded (at 3
different places) in class.layout_phpcms.php, making it
impossible to edit content files in languages using
other charset.

Editor charset should be definable in the global
configuration (iso-8859-1 being the default).

wrap="off" should be wrap="virtual"

When editing in the editor, the textarea's "wrap"
should be set to "virtual" instead of "off", to allow
easier editing of long lines.

no display of submenus if no submenu items

If there is a list, a box or similar definded in a
template to display a submenu (and possibly a second
level submenu), _nothing_ should be displayed when
there are no submenu items defined for the page displayed.
This should also work if the menu name (MNAME) is used
as a heading for the submenu list / box.
