Rotating pictures

Wouldn't it be possible to add a function to rotate the
pictures for watching. That's in fact no really new
feature since I think I once saw a version of phpix
doing it. But maybe I just confused names...

Alternate /cache owner

phpix2 creates a /cache subdirectory owned
by "nobody" - If I have root access, I can delete
the /cache subdirectory as I update (change or delete)
albums. On public ISPs, where I don't have root access,
I have no way of deleting /cache.

Can phpix2 be modified so the /cache subdirectory is
owned by the account /cache is in? Or perhaps a
replaceable parameter so I can set the owner to
whatever I want?

Commercial Printing of Pictures.

It would be great to allow users to click one button
and have the original (non-scaled) image uploaded to a
commercial printer such as www.shutterfly.com or
www.ofoto.com.

PHP3.XX Compatibility

Version 2.01 Won't work with PHP 3 out of the box.
Seems simple to fix.

1. Common.inc needs to have functions defined before
use. Just cut and paste function defs first.

2. Common.inc uses htmlentities($desc,ENT_QUOTES)
PHP3.xx doesn't use ENT_QUOTES. Just use htmlentities
($desc). Not sure if this changes anything or not -
htmlentities in PHP3.xx has different defaults.

I have installed PhPix2 to allow some of my friends to
see my Digital Pictures.

Most of them have a difficulty with the fact that the
pictures on which they sometimes appear are wide open
to anyone on the internet.

Maybe it would interesting to add a simple login
feature (based on a .txt database for example - not a
Mysql database) to add a login/pwd on a particular
album

Albums dateorder instead of alphabetical

Hello,

PHPix 2.0 is excellent. Nowdays I've got more than 2500
pictures in it. To keep pictures order its neccessary
to make albums. But when I have many albums it's hard
to remember which is newest. For that I've been naming
albums with date date number. If i upload pictures
today, I'll name album to "30.7.2001". PHPix sort
albums by name. That causes albums to go "wrong" order,
like:

1.9.2000
25.7.2001
30.7.2001
3.1.2001

It would be good to have possibilty to order albums by
directory date. It's quite easily done with a little
modification in common.inc (2.0 stable)

PHPix resizes pictures while creating the html pages.
This works fine when all pictures are cached, but each
time you upload new pictures, you get script-timeouts
and long responsetime.
This could be avoided by creating an imagewrapper
scripts, which should do the resize of pictures.

Instead of resize the picture and use the url:
/photos/cache/mypic.jpg__scaled_640.jpg

it should use the url:
/photos/imagewrapper.php?src=/photos/mypic.jpg&size=640
Then the imagewrapper script should resize the picture
if needed, and send the picture to the browser.

This way the html page could be created very fast. The
total time the scripts uses are the same as before but
the user would be able to use the page, before all
pictures are resized.
