&lt;p&gt;When you use a software like labwindows (NI), you have &lt;br /&gt;
to install a "runtime engine" to run your application &lt;br /&gt;
without labwindows development.&lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;Imagine with a "python runtime engine" (pyd, dll) installed&lt;br /&gt;
without python development, with py2exe you can &lt;br /&gt;
installed your application with one or some files, and&lt;br /&gt;
not nowadays with  a great number of files&lt;/p&gt;
